Client: Jude Becroft
Project: Large single storey house
Location: North-west Auckland
Date: 2010
Before Recolour: Dark Green
After Recolour: Off-White
Love the house but not the colour of the joinery? That was the situation faced by Auckland house buyers Jude Becroft and her husband. But a search on the internet revealed the solution to their
problem.
"We found a new house we really liked
but it had ghastly dark green aluminium joinery and there was a lot of it, with French doors in every room except the bathrooms.
"The house was only 16 years old and the joinery was in very good condition, with a nice wide profile, so I did a search on the internet to see if it was possible to change the colour. It was a huge relief to discover Systemex could recolour the joinery inside
and outside, as well as the ease and speed of the process.
"Systemex started work the first week we moved into our new house. It was a challenge to get the new colour right but we worked it through and got an amazing result in the end.
"The new colour is really calm and soothing to live with, and looks like new joinery. Systemex was excellent value for money, a fantastic way to transform and revitalise our home, and I would definitely recommend them.

Client: Jenni Wright
Project: Two storey house
Location: Auckland
Date: 2010
Before Recolour: Pink
After Recolour: Silver
"Our aluminium windows were faded and dated and the expense of replacing them would have been huge. To make matters worse we have a plaster house so there would have been too much disruption to the plaster and a lot of repair work needed. We
have one huge window that is an odd shape and covers two storeys. We wouldn't even contemplate removing and replacing that, so recolouring was a fantastic option for us. We would have saved $4000 - $5000 just on the windows let alone the doors as well.
"As we didn't know anyone who had had this recolouring done, at first we were a bit nervous about the outcome but we couldn't be happier with the result. We had all our joinery recoloured inside and out. It was excellent workmanship and the new paintwork looks
like a powdercoat. No one would ever know the difference, or realise that they had been recoloured.
"There were a couple of minor issues that needed a touch up, and Systemex were very obliging in coming back to remedy the problem promptly. We had Systemex come back a few weeks later and spray a wrought iron stair banister which was looking tired. We had
contemplated removing that, but again the expense was too much to justify. The banister now has a new lease of life, and looks very modern in its bright, shiny white.
"If the opportunity arose again, Systemex would be the first people I would go to. I have recommended them to tradesmen who have come round to do other work for us and have seen the results of the change. We have had nothing but positive comments from
everyone who comes around to our place and has known it "before and after."

Client: Peter Alexander
Project: Two storey house
Location: Christchurch
Date: 2009
Before Recolour: Pink
After Recolour: Coal Dust
It took just four days for Systemex to change the colour of 18 aluminium windows, helping bring a 1970s house into the 21st century.
"Our place is a 1970s two storey house we bought to do up. The aluminium joinery was in good condition but it was a hideous pink so it had to go. At first I investigated replacing the windows with new joinery but that was way too
expensive.
"I was surprised when the joinery company suggested getting the existing joinery recoloured because I didn't know it was possible to do that. I had some concerns, again mostly about the price, but I am very happy. Systemex has done a great job and I would
recommend them to others."

Client: Wayne Rowland
Project: Single storey house
Location: Richmond
Date: 2009
Before Recolour: Dark green
After Recolour: Sand
"The dark green colour on the windows, garage doors and guttering dated the house and looked tatty even though the place was less than three years old. It looked so bad I considered replacing the joinery but it would have been really expensive and a
nightmare to install. Besides, I would have had to have replaced the garage doors and guttering too.
"A friend told me it was possible to recolour aluminium so I went looking for information and found Systemex on the internet. I am a plasterer by trade and I warned them I would be fussy.
I was worried about getting paint on the rubbers and looking like it has been sprayed. But Systemex achieved a finish that is better than powder coating because of the sheen. Although it wasn't cheap, they were brilliant and I have recommended them to other
people several times already."

Client: Mr & Mrs Mackenzie
Project: Two storey house
Location: Christchurch
Date: 2008
Before Recolour: Karaka Green
After Recolour: Metallic White
The Mackenize's two storey house had about 30 dark green windows and doors. Over a period of about three weeks, Systemex recoloured the interior and exterior metallic white. For the convenience of the owners, the recolouring was completed during the day while the
owners were at work.
"I always hated the dark green joinery but it was going to cost a fortune to get new joinery and it would be too hard to take out the existing frames cleanly and not damage the plaster.
"Recolouring the existing joinery was a big investment and I was quite nervous about whether you could cover the dark green and whether the paint would stick so I rang a leading paint supplier and new joinery company. They said Systemex was the only company to use
because they've got the best concoctions and do the preparation right.
"We didn't want a shiny look so Systemex toned down the finish to suit. We are absolutely delighted with the final result. It looks as good as powder coat."

Client: Maureen Kennedy and Brian Gibbons
Project: Two storey house
Location: Tauranga
Date: 2008
Before Recolour: Green
After Recolour: Brown
Maureen and Brian's two storey house had about 30 dark green windows and doors. In less than two weeks Systemex recoloured them inside and out.
"All the joinery was oxidized so we needed to make a decision on whether to refurbish or recolour the existing joinery, or to replace it all. Also as we were repainting the exterior, the existing joinery colour was not easy to tie in with a revised colour
scheme."
"The cost of replacing all the joinery was far in excess of the cost of recolouring. Refurbishing the existing did not overcome the issue we had with the colour, therefore recolouring all the joinery
became the most realistic option. Whilst the cost of recolouring the joinery is significant, replacing the joinery would have been a huge cost in comparison. There would have been far more disruption having all the joinery totally removed and replaced. Additional
cost would have also been incurred in resealing, repairing and repainting around the new joinery. As the joinery frames remain in place during the Systemex recolouring process, this is a considerable saving in both time and money."
"In choosing to recolour the joinery, our main concern was the disruption to our home-based business. Systemex was very accommodating throughout the whole process and this resulted in very little disruption to business. They worked systematically putting in around
12 hour days to get the job done as quickly as possible. We have a lot of joinery and were amazed at how quickly and efficiently the work was completed."
"We chose Systemex as the alternatives for recolouring did not appear to have as durable a finish as Systemex. Also Systemex was excellent to deal with right from the first contact we had with
them. The work was completed on time, at the agreed price, and the result was outstanding.
"The finished look after recolouring is fresh and looks like new. After some six months it still looks excellent. We consider the result has added considerably to the overall look and value of our property. We would be more than happy to use Systemex again and are
happy to recommend the process as a feasible option to replacing existing joinery."

Client: Mrs Waiker
Project: Apartment
Location: Wellington
Date: 2008
Before Recolour: Dark Brown
After Recolour: Metallic Silver
This client disliked the colour of the joinery in her apartment. The body corporate wouldn't allow her to change the exterior appearance of the building but Systemex was engaged to recolour the interior joinery.
Completing this project to Systemex' exacting standards involved overcoming several challenges:
 |
The body corporate did not allow the window sashes or ranch sliders to be removed for preparation or recolouring so they had to be treated on site. |
 |
To ensure a perfect straight line between the inside and outside joinery, two extra days of masking was required |
 |
The existing joinery hardware couldn't be recoloured so had to be removed and all the screw holes filled. |
 |
The recolour had to perfectly match the colour of the new hardware. |
"Systemex produced an absolutely fantastic result and it was worth every penny. The recoloured aluminium joinery was easily on a par with powder coating. The company did everything they told us they would do. I would use Systemex again without a
doubt."

Clients: Mr and Mrs Hull
Project: Three-storey house
Location: Mt Maunganui
Date: 2006
Before Recolour: Denim Blue
After Recolour: Customised New Denim Blue
As part of an upgrade and renovations to their house, these clients engaged Systemex to recolour a faded aluminium joinery conservatory. Being right on the beach front, the joinery was exposed to extreme coastal conditions. It had become pitted in a couple of
corner places where the salt had begun to corrode. It would have deteriorated further had it not been treated.
"You couldn't be in a worse area for corrosion. Systemex stripped everything right back. The finished job looked so sharp that we got the company to do more work. On the middle deck one
window slider had begun to corrode - Systemex sorted that out. The company was able to match our old denim blue colour even though it was no longer available in the powdercoat range of colours.
"With this tricky job Systemex was meticulous because it's the kind of company that wants to do the best job possible. When one of the surfaces was painted to a satisfactory standard, Systemex still wasn't happy with the finish. During the drying process, the hot
weather conditions had caused a slight 'orange-peel' ripple on the surface paint.
"Systemex sanded it back and repainted it to pristine condition. Systemex assured us that the final paint coat would be like new, and this was the case. Two years later, it has retained its colour and still looks good."
